Jean Baptiste Marie Vianney
St. John Vianney
1786-1859 — Feast Day: August 4
John Baptiste Marie Vianney was born the son of a poor French farmer and grew up during a time of intense Church persecution. St. John Vianney is most famously known as the "Curé (Pastor) of Ars" or the "Patron of Parish Priests" for his gifts as a confessor and director of souls. However, he remains an example to our children due to his perseverance in overcoming struggles in his studies.

His bishop noted that Vianney was a true model of goodness, filling his words with charity and love and possessing great common sense.

The goal of St. John Vianney's life was to live for the glory of God, the salvation of his soul and the salvation of the souls around him. He burned with love for Jesus and through him Jesus ignited many flames of faith.
